Keith Mahone - Bird Songs Of The Hualapai

Singer Keith Mahone sings a variety of traditional Hualapai songs including bird dance songs, salt songs, circle and ghost dance songs. Originally learned from the Mohave people in the early 1900's, bird songs havebecome an important part of Hualapai culture. As Keith describes them, They are sung to the creations of the rocks, the plants, the water, the hills and mountains. The songs respect the 'spirit' of the areas that are being approached by praising and honoring the areas." This collection of 27 songs tells musical stories of animals and life and is a quiet journey into the world of the Hualapai people of northwest Arizona.
